Bob Proctor — Life Changing Strategies by Kaya Morgan

Of humble beginnings, Proctor grew up in a small town just outside Toronto in Ontario, Canada during the far-reaching depression. As the middle child of a working class family, he was raised by his mother and grand-mother as strong matriarchs while his father was away doing his part for the war initiative. With an older sister, and a younger brother, Bob was often overlooked as he quietly tried to find his place in the world. By age 9, he started his first job, and became a hard worker delivering newspapers in his surrounding neighborhood.

Life was not easy in those days with a postwar recession affecting the economy. Then, during the 9th grade, Proctor found himself dropping out of school to work various odd jobs until he joined the Navy at 17. After five years of service, he returned home and began landing jobs in restaurants, bars, factories, or anywhere else a job existed during the tough post-World War II era. So, in that way, Proctor was fortunate that he may have been selected based on prior service to his country over another applicant, and was given a job when others were not. Extremely hard working and always looking for the next best opportunity, Proctor eventually landed a job as a firefighter with the Toronto Fire Department.

At a small café near the fire station, Bob met business owner, Ray Stanford, who began talking with him about life. Ray introduced him to the classic book by Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich which changed his life forever. Proctor soon found himself driving around, listening to the book over and over throughout the day. “I never had much of a formal education, and no business experience whatsoever. I didn't even know how to use an encyclopedia. My life was a series of constant struggles for a long period of time,” he states. Then, in another pivotal moment, he made a commitment to himself to read the chapter on “Persistence” once every day for a year.

As time went by, the principles in that book began to change the way Proctor lived his life. “I burned those principles into my mind, and learned that quitting was not an option,” he says. When he opened an office cleaning business, within the first year it grew into a worldwide chain bringing in millions of dollars annually. Yet, he had a nagging inner voice that told him he was still not satisfied with his lot in life. Soon Proctor found himself devouring self-improvement books in an effort to learn more about the deeper principles of living an abundant life. One day, he ran across the works of Earl Nightingale, and never looked back.

By 1968, Proctor found himself moving to Chicago to be closer to the Nightingale-Conant source where he landed a job within the company. After rising to Vice President of Sales, he began to realize it was time to create his own organization to mentor others, and teach them how to create the desired success results in their own life.

Then in the ‘70s, Proctor launched his own seminar company when he secured a contract with Prudential Life Insurance to teach its agents how they could write millions of dollars in new business that year if they just chose to do so. Even though it was July with over half the year behind them, the level of company sales increased so dramatically that Proctor's reputation for teaching financial success was born. Over the years, he has taught the principles of success worldwide to hundreds of business organizations, and to thousands of people from all walks of life through a series of live seminars. Attendees often endorse Proctor for transforming their lives in ways they had never thought possible. Along with business partner, Sandy Gallagher, Bob created Thinking Into Results, an educational learning program, meant to inspire and evoke the missing components of success while tapping deeper into a person's unlimited potential.
